Why asking "Why" leads to Spiritual Development: Finding My Why

WHY.

We hear it all the time… Kids ask it constantly: “Why? Why? Why?” But somewhere along the way, we stop asking it with intention, or worse, we ask it and never truly listen to the answer.

Why do I stay in this job?

Why did I make that decision?

Why does this feel off?

These three simple letters. W-H-Y might be the most powerful question we can ever ask ourselves. And yet, when the answer starts to come we look away.

Why?

Because most of the time we already know the answer. And if we’re being honest it’s not clarity we’re lacking it’s the courage to act on what we hear.

I get asked all the time, “Brandon, why are you a guide?” The answer is simple and incredibly complex all at the same time.

I am here to be in service to humans. That sounds easy, right?

Real service isn’t just doing tasks, it’s not just building something, fixing something, or delivering something. True service is deeper:

• It is helping someone find their WHY.

• It is being present when they’re struggling to listen to themselves.

• It is guiding them toward growth, even when it’s uncomfortable.

• It is holding space without judgment.

• It is asking the questions that unlock something inside them so they can understand themselves more deeply.

Here’s something I’ve come to realize, EVERYTHING in our human world is service to other humans.

The person installing your cable. The garbage collector. The construction worker. The software developer. Even companies. They’re not some abstract thing, they’re simply groups of people serving other groups of people with a need.

So, if everything is rooted in service why do we still feel stuck?

Because your personal WHY is not just about service it is also about growth. Your WHY evolves as you evolve. It expands as you gain experience. We are not here on earth to stay the same. We’re here to become the true self.

Maybe the real question isn’t, "Why?" Maybe it should be, "Why not?"

Why not grow? Why not take the risk? Why not start the conversation? Why not step into something new?

Fear will always be there. That’s part of the human experience. But, so is opportunity.

Even in things like the rise of AI (artificual intellegence). Because of my background in technology, people ask me all the time what I think about AI. Here’s my answer. AI is not here to replace us. It’s here to push us. To evolve us. To force us to discover new WHYs.

I’ve spent years asking myself “why” and not always listening when the answers came. Instead I was playing it safe. Waiting. Hesitating. Sound familiar?

It’s time to stop asking and start acting. And sometimes listening IS the action.
